A little Massey Ferguson history | 500 Series

A bit of history Massey Ferguson 500 series

2WD-4WD

The Massey Ferguson 500 series appeared in the mid-70s. The aim of this brand-new series was to meet a growing customer demand for an improved cab, with enhanced visibility.

Massey Ferguson has risen to the challenge with flying colors. Here are a few improvements to the 500 series:

  • The controls are now grouped together in the cab, compared to before when they were located on the tractor body.
  • The new series complies with the new 1977 regulations limiting sound levels inside the cab to a maximum of 90db, for greater operator comfort.
  • Inside the cab, the heating and ventilation system was greatly improved, and the floor was now flat. The driver's seat was adjustable with spring suspension.
  • The tractor had a new hydraulic system and an improved power take-off (PTO).

? Fun fact: early models had only one door, on the left-hand side. This inconvenience was corrected a few years later.

Do you still own one of these today?
